Personality Type: Rational Mastermind - . ..... Master Decision Maker

I know this is already posted elsewhere, and I already know this about myself, I can't help but come back to these 4 paragraphs (below) and see how exactly spot on they are in describing my personality and in a small way, the way I think. It is so true, I can plan out an operation (travel plans, homework, workouts, international negotiations) down to the exact detail all within a few seconds and then make a quick decision; whereas sometimes I've witnessed others take months to make the same decision. Oh well. Someday I'll be put to use hopefully doing what I'm good at. Researching and learning every complex portion of the problem, becoming an expert in a few weeks (NOT YEARS!) and then make decisions and help guide others to make the right decision too.

All Rationals are good at planning operations, but Masterminds are head and shoulders above all the rest in contingency planning. Complex operations involve many steps or stages, one following another in a necessary progression, and Masterminds are naturally able to grasp how each one leads to the next, and to prepare alternatives for difficulties that are likely to arise any step of the way. Trying to anticipate every contingency, Masterminds never set off on their current project without a Plan A firmly in mind, but they are always prepared to switch to Plan B or C or D if need be.

Masterminds are rare, comprising no more than, say, one percent of the population, and they are rarely encountered outside their office, factory, school, or laboratory. Although they are highly capable leaders, Masterminds are not at all eager to take command, preferring to stay in the background until others demonstrate their inability to lead. Once they take charge, however, they are thoroughgoing pragmatists. Masterminds are certain that efficiency is indispensable in a well-run organization, and if they encounter inefficiency-any waste of human and material resources-they are quick to realign operations and reassign personnel. Masterminds do not feel bound by established rules and procedures, and traditional authority does not impress them, nor do slogans or catchwords. Only ideas that make sense to them are adopted; those that don't, aren't, no matter who thought of them. Remember, their aim is always maximum efficiency.

In their careers, Masterminds usually rise to positions of responsibility, for they work long and hard and are dedicated in their pursuit of goals, sparing neither their own time and effort nor that of their colleagues and employees. Problem-solving is highly stimulating to Masterminds, who love responding to tangled systems that require careful sorting out. Ordinarily, they verbalize the positive and avoid comments of a negative nature; they are more interested in moving an organization forward than dwelling on mistakes of the past.

Masterminds tend to be much more definite and self-confident than other Rationals, having usually developed a very strong will. Decisions come easily to them; in fact, they can hardly rest until they have things settled and decided. But before they decide anything, they must do the research. Masterminds are highly theoretical, but they insist on looking at all available data before they embrace an idea, and they are suspicious of any statement that is based on shoddy research, or that is not checked against reality.

Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Ulysses S. Grant, Niels Bohr, Peter the Great, Stephen Hawking, John Maynard Keynes, Lise Meitner, Ayn Rand and Sir Isaac Newton are examples of Rational Masterminds.

Esther told me to write so I am

Esther told me to write. I am supposed to be writing my post race report for that massive race. Everyone keeps waiting for me to post it. Even my work wants a copy to post in some newsletter. Don't know why I keep putting it off. I ended up spending about 10 hours making a video of the trip. I learned how to add lots of special effects and stuff. I really like the video. Like the music too. Published it on youtube Mongolia Sunrise to Sunset 100km run 2010

I wish I could write as bold as Esther, but am always worried it will come back an haunt me. Things I really think, or and let slip sometimes, when people I know hear about it (always out of context) I end up paying for it dearly. It sucks going through life making sure every word and sentence spoken is carefully what I mean. People are always misunderstanding me. Oh well.

I love living here cause I like experiencing challenge and adventure. But I'm sick of being at the bottom of the ladder at work. I've been at the bottom for the last 15 years. Every job, I've never climbed because I'm always moving. Will probably move this time next year to Washington DC. Who knows. But in the mean time I want to experience all I can.

Lots of people I know always talk about 'you only live life once, so have fun' or 'try everything at least once, and if you don't like it....at least you tried...'
I've never lived by that motto, but I'm liking it more and more. I'm drawn to adventure, trying new things, going new places.... manytimes just wish I could go out and have fun in all I do-instead of a reserved life-but reality is different.

There you go, I said somethings now.

Why as an INTJ do I procrastinate on writing papers?

One thing I would like to find out is why I stress and procrastinate soooo much and put off writing articles/papers thta don't interest me for months until the last possible moment. If we are such good strategic planners, I don't understand whey I can't just start writing and get it over with. It never works. I've almost giving up on school because I hate to write when forced too and I just procrastinate.
Oddly enough when I look back at my writing/papers, they are so professional and done exceptionally well, and that it surprises me why I struggle. Complex.
But in no way to I EVER procrastinate in other areas of my life - (I'm never ever late, I am so conscious of time and what I need to do to accomplish my plan(s). Just strange.

This one goes out to Esther; Both of them

I finally got this blog unblocked, and want to start writing again. So in dedication to the two Esther's closes to me in my life; Here is to the start of hopefully a long blog writing career. (Yeah right).

Esther #1: My Daughter and all my happiness in life. She is everything a person could want in a child. A perfect blessing and pride of my life.

Esther #2: Best Army friend and Soldier who's upfront and unmatched ability to tell the truth and see behing every human's facade and mask is quite unique.

Writing, like running is an outlet. Both are detested and avoided at all costs especially when forced to do so against ones will. No one likes to run, no one looks forward to it, but after they're done, they love it and are elated to have accomplished a difficult task. Writing is the same. I hate the task set before me when thinking of writing, but after I'm done, I look back in amazement that I produced a wonderful piece of communicative art. Only in writing do you have the ability to truly communicate what you want to say.

This is a good enough start for now.

Ft. Lewis Cemetery walk

Yesterday (Jan 8, 2009), I found myself wandering through the Ft. Lewis Cemetery on a lunch break trying to explore the areas on Ft. Lewis. The setting and the cemetery was like that from a perfectly scripted movie ready to film a solemn funeral. The clouds were low, the ground was wet, the rain was falling softly, the trees standing firm with their roots penetrating the earth protecting the graves from any danger.

As I exited my Jeep to walk up to the cemetery I head a large caliber high powered weapon pierce the silent air. My instant reaction was to flinch at the unexpected sound. I realized there was a firing range about 300 meters away where Soldiers where training on their weapons for familiarization and skilled marksmen. During my walk-through looking at all the dates on the gravestones, and listening to the Soldiers on the firing range, a complex thought came to mind in that atmosphere. "Is not the purpose of training with a weapon to ultimately make one more of these gravestones?"Even I myself had spent hundreds of hours at a firing range hoping to become an expert shot if the need ever arouse. But I never thought about how every shot taken when in combat at an opposing force, meant one could possibly create another spot for a grave somewhere in the world.

Later I noticed another fact that many of the dates in those gravestones indicated the burial sites contained so many children and infants. So many of these kids where two years old, three years and they died, and some were only two or one day old. I could not help of thinking of my own two year old daughter and the anguish I would feel if she was taken from me. So many lives, so much death, only God himself knows the reason for it all.

Got goals set

I signed up for the Army in August and got a job while I wait to ship out. I leave for London, Stockholm, and Rome on November 2, 2004. Looking foward to it all.
